Much Ado About American Idol

Well it is finally over, I've been following this season's American Idol fastidiously despite going through a dramatic halt over Michael John's elimination. Anyway, after the battle between the two Davids, battle between the macho rocker and the angelic babyface, between the straight and the gay (oops, not sure bout that yet, sorry!), David Cook finally took the title. Thank gawd!! I was sort of reluctantly going towards that direction during the finals, of accepting that Archuleta will win.

I'm quite pleased with the finale actually, both of them did very well. When Simon went all out about Archuleta beating Cook with a 'knockout', I was thinking "Oh no, Simon rarely gets it wrong". After all, Simon does get the right to sign one of the Top 2 under him as an artist. But surprise, surprise, Americans got it right this time. During the results finale, it was a bliss to see Michael Johns on stage again. Sigh, he sounded so good. But his duet with Carly, gawd that woman literally destroyed the song with the screaming! The duet shud have been with me! (Opps, over!)

I was hoping they would also invite Fantasia on stage besides Jordin and Carrie. Many actually didn't like Fantasia's performance during the Top 3 show, she was in her usual gospel mode, jumping and celebrating. But I like me Fantasia, missed watching her on stage. I also read today that AOL Television Poll revealed that Carrie Underwood was voted the most favourite idol of all time, taking 54% of the cake, leaving Kelly Clarkson only 26%.

The Mourning Period

This site will be dressed down to all black for a period of 2 weeks my friends, as I am mourning over Michael Johns' elimination....

The drama queen sits down, sips her afternoon coffee, indulges into her sinful cake, browses whatever she could on him over the internet, sighs a sad note, and reminisces his voice when he sang It's All Wrong, But It's Alright...

When Americans Have It Wrong

I'm devastated, my darling Michael Johns has been eliminated from the American Idol competition this week. I have to say I knew he would be another case like Chris Daughtry, that big chance he may not win the competition, and that he'll make it big even without winning, just like Daughtry, but to kick him out so early and not even let him be in Top 5? Hmm..the american voters definitely have it all wrong. I need at least 2 weeks to mourn.....

Michael sang the finale song last nite on American Idol, and he did it again,lovely, lovely!! Full of soul, full of charisma, and full of tasty moments (LOL)

American Idol 7 - Season Of The PLU's

Gaydar spots....

This season is said to be the season with the best talents so far, and to me that's only natural for the show to improve year after year, and produce better mix of talents as time goes on. But what I noticed is, this season has the most number of gay (well, at least to my gaydar they are!) contestants as well! PLU rules LOL

The first on our list is definitely Divalicious Danny!! Y'know what, despite the controversy he's sparked this season as many did not approve his sissy antics on stage, I was quite happy that finally one talented feminine gay is finally given a chance to try it out in this competition. And he was funny! Danny's brave, proud of who he was, and did nothing to hide anything and just went up there every week to show his talents.

Next goes without saying, David Hernandez. I was telling a friend about him when I saw him during the audition stage, "Hey y'know that guy, not bad vocals, that guy remember...the hunky bod, gayish one..." and my friend straight away went "Oh that Hernandez guy!", spot on. And when his controversy for having worked in a gay strip club before this arose, it just confirmed to everyone. But hey, what's to be ashamed of, he's not bad looking, got a great bod, and what I quite like about him is, he actually has got pretty good vocals, this guy's got potential.

The only gay left standing in this competition so far in the Top 10, is Jason Castro. And he's getting really popular with the ladies as well! But I dunno, my gaydar says to me he is definitely one. Although I'm not a fan (I think he sings out of tune too many times already week after week), but you go Jason, represent the PLU's, you go girl LOL

The last two, less memorable, were Colton Berry and Garrett Haley, two among the earliest to leave the Top 24. So, I'd say, this season has definitely produced the most gay contestants in its TOP 24 so far. Does it say to us that gays are more talented in singing? Well, we've always known that already, I'd say it just goes to say, more and more gays are becoming more comfortable with their own identities, and they're just getting out there today to show they're good, talented, and they happen to be gay, that's all. Good for them!But the biiiiig question is, is David Archuleta also in the same category as the rest of the above? He's been creating quite an impression on the judges, and millions of girls and I'm sure gays. My gaydar tells me he is one. I've also seen a video clip of Archuleta in his younger days, singing Alicis Keys' song in another competition, and boy can he move with the black sista attitude!! LOL

Something About Michael Johns - And Mr. K

Besides being the most talented contestant in the American Idol Season 7, Michael seems to be growing on me week after week. Something about him, not really good looking, body's not really Brad-Pitt material, but he's very appealing in his own way. His Australian accent has been said to have given him added advantage with the ladies. Hmm...I never remembered myself being too much of a fan of Aussie accents, but I sure like listening to him talk :-)

Talking bout Aussie guys, I sure missed out on getting to know them more when I was in Australia during the late 80's. And guess what, it was because I was too busy being 'married'!! Sad huh, but it's true, I got hooked with an Indonesian boyfriend (let's call him Mr. K) at that time, and we were living the cohabitating-status relationship for 2 whole years, so I virtually erased the clubbing-flirting-one-nite-stand scene at that time! Oh well, I only felt it years after I came back to my own country (what was I doing??!! LOL), guess I was really happy at that time with Mr. K, totally didn't cross my mind.

When I was there, Aussie accents did not appeal at all to me, I've always preferred the English men talking, hee... but there were definitely many cute Aussie boys around. Mr. K believe it or not was a strong religious Christian, and gosh did I see him went through heavy, heavy dilemma when we first started going out. I felt bad but what could I do, I was already falling head over heels for him. I can still remember how we first started, we were walking back from the supermarket one night after grocery shopping with another 2 friends. It was cold and I was rubbing my two hands when he said "Wanna keep your hand in here?" offering his side pocket of his jacket to me. I smiled and slid my right hand into his right pocket and let him wrap me from behind as we continued walking. It was really sweet.

Mr. K was definitely the romantic guy. If there was one thing I'd tag for each of my ex, his would definitely be ROMANTIC. It was in a way a good thing too as we were away from our homes in a foreign country, where Australia was filled with romantic guys round, he did give me a few 'moments' to remember.

Michael Johns - I hope you win the competition....
Australia - Thank you for 3 good years, I still miss you....
Mr. K - I hope you're well, thank you for 2 good years, I'll always miss you...
